Maya Yoga Weekend Immersion
Practice & Philosophy with Nicki Doane
We are honoured to welcome Nicki Doane back to Pranify Yoga for a five-session Maya Yoga immersion. This weekend is designed as a complete arc — from philosophical inquiry and strong, intelligent asana to deep restorative integration. Each session stands on its own, yet together they offer a rare opportunity to study the practice in its fullness: movement, breath, devotion, and reflection woven into a living tradition. Whether you are a dedicated student or a teacher seeking depth, this weekend invites you to step further into the work — personally, and in the field of community.
Align your mind, body, and intentions.

Exploring the Eight Limbs of Yoga
The eight limbs form the philosophical foundation of yoga — guiding how we move, breathe, think, and live. In this opening session, Nicki brings these teachings into direct experience through a dynamic, alignment-based asana practice woven with thoughtful reflection.
Rather than approaching yoga as only physical postures, we explore how the limbs inform and deepen our practice on and off the mat. Expect intelligent sequencing, clear instruction, and meaningful integration of philosophy that makes ancient teachings feel relevant and alive. This accessible yet depth-filled evening sets the tone for the entire weekend.

9:00am–12:00pm
Maya Yoga Lunges for Hip & Back Freedom
Lunges are among the most transformative shapes in the Maya Yoga system. In this focused workshop, Nicki guides students through the complete lunge series to cultivate freedom in the hips and length in the spine.
Through precise alignment and progressive sequencing, we build stability in the legs while inviting extension through the front body and strength through the back body. This practice refines awareness, develops intelligent expansion, and supports both hip mobility and spinal integrity. Expect a strong, steady, and deeply clarifying session.
2:00–5:00pm
Drop In & Let Go — Deep Restorative Yoga
This nourishing restorative practice is designed to reset the nervous system and invite profound release. With the support of props and guided breath, we settle into long-held poses that allow the body to soften and the mind to quiet.
Nicki creates a compassionate and spacious environment where students can release accumulated tension and return to balance. Perfectly placed at the midpoint of the weekend, this session offers restoration, integration, and renewed vitality.

A Full Spectrum Flow
This dynamic Maya Yoga class integrates asana, pranayama, chanting, meditation, and deep relaxation into one cohesive practice. The sequence unfolds organically and may include standing poses, backbends, forward folds, arm balances, and inversions.
Designed to explore the full range of movement and awareness, this session strengthens the body while cultivating clarity, steadiness, and devotion. It is invigorating and grounding — a complete practice that leaves you centred and connected to the deeper intention of yoga.
2:00–5:00pm
Relax Deeply with Storytime
This restorative session is devoted to nourishing the parasympathetic nervous system — the aspect of our physiology that allows healing, repair, and deep rest.
Blending restorative yoga with the ancient storytelling traditions of yoga, this class invites students to rest while listening to timeless myths of gods, goddesses, and deities. Supported by bolsters and props, students settle into long-held, restful poses while Nicki shares stories rich with symbolism and spiritual insight. This meditative blend of movement, myth, and stillness soothes the nervous system and awakens the imagination.
Supported by bolsters, blankets, and steady guidance, students settle into gentle shapes supported by breath and quiet reflection. This is the art of slowing down — a closing practice that invites stillness, integration, and a return to simplicity.

About Nicki Doane
Nicki Doane is an internationally respected yoga teacher and co-founder of Maya Yoga. For over three decades, she has been devoted to the study and teaching of yoga as a living tradition — one that weaves together asana, pranayama, philosophy, chanting, and meditation into a cohesive and meaningful practice.
A longtime student of Pattabhi Jois and deeply rooted in the Ashtanga lineage, Nicki went on to develop Maya Yoga alongside Eddie Modestini — a method that honours tradition while allowing space for intelligence, creativity, and personal inquiry. Her teaching is known for its clarity, precision, depth, and warmth.
Based in Maui, Hawai‘i, Nicki teaches workshops and teacher trainings internationally. She is respected for her ability to make classical philosophy accessible and relevant, while guiding strong, alignment-based asana that is both challenging and sustainable. Her work invites students to explore yoga not only as physical practice, but as a lifelong path of study, devotion, and self-understanding.
Yoga is fundamentally spiritual. It asks us to recognize the profound connection between self and spirit — and to embody that connection through practice. Nicki’s approach to Maya Yoga is rooted in this understanding. Her teaching blends dynamic structural alignment, conscious breathing, and practical yogic philosophy to strengthen all aspects of your being. With over 30 years of dedicated personal practice, she understands how the body responds somatically to clear, intelligent instruction — creating meaningful shifts in mind, body, and spirit.
In Nicki’s classes, poses are not for show — they are for your health. Foundations matter. Alignment matters. As the poet Rumi reminds us, “How can you get the pay if you haven’t done the work?” Maya Yoga offers a system of simple, precise movements that build the groundwork for deeper exploration, blending the strength and rhythm of Ashtanga with the clarity and alignment principles of Iyengar. This integration supports students in becoming stronger, steadier, and more capable of going deeper — safely and sustainably.
Yoga supports us in everything we do. It is spirit in action. Through thoughtful sequencing, storytelling, devotion, and disciplined practice, Nicki invites you to discover that the real work is inward — and that the rewards extend far beyond the mat.
