Pranify Yoga, in collaboration with Nicki Doane, invites you into a Yoga Alliance–certified 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training rooted in practice, inquiry, and lived experience.
This hybrid teacher training is hosted in Kelowna, British Columbia, with a structure that blends in-person immersion and online learning.
Designed for people who love yoga and feel called to study it more deeply ~ whether or not teaching is your end goal ~ this training honours yoga as a living spiritual practice and supports clarity, intelligence, and confidence both on and off the mat.
In service to real bodies and real lives.
Maya Yoga is a system of yoga created by Nicki Doane, drawing on more than 35 years of dedicated practice and teaching within the Ashtanga and Iyengar traditions. It is a thoughtful blending of movement and precision ~ honouring both strength and sensitivity, discipline and inquiry. This approach offers a way into practice that is intelligent, accessible, and rooted in lived experience.
Maya means “illusion” in Sanskrit, and in this spirit, Maya Yoga is never quite what you expect. It asks you to stay curious, to soften assumptions, and to meet your practice fresh each day. You are invited to explore intelligent sequencing, precise alignment, conscious breath, and the skilful use of props, all while remembering that yoga is, at its core, a living spiritual practice—one that meets you in real life, exactly as you are.
This training is an invitation to step into a deeper relationship with your practice and with yourself. Whether you feel called to teach or simply wish to study yoga in a more meaningful, embodied way, you are welcome here. You do not need to be an advanced practitioner. What matters most is your curiosity, your commitment, and your willingness to show up and learn.
Rather than memorizing scripts or forcing yourself into a mould, you will learn how to see, how to listen, and how to respond from lived experience. As you deepen your understanding of your own body, you begin to understand others more clearly—recognizing yoga as a practice of relationship: with yourself, with others, and with the teachings. From this place, teaching becomes less about performance and more about presence, observation, and skillful response. As you journey through the months of this training alongside a committed group of like-minded practitioners, community naturally forms and connection deepens. Your personal practice becomes the foundation, and from that foundation, your teaching voice is allowed to emerge—naturally, intelligently, and in service of real bodies and real lives.

Training Curriculum &
What You Will Learn
This training offers a holistic, experiential approach to the study of yoga, weaving together practice, philosophy, and teaching in a way that is grounded, intelligent, and deeply embodied. Learning happens through doing, observing, discussing, reflecting, and integrating.
Throughout the training, you will explore:
-
Asana as both physical posture and mental practice, with an emphasis on intelligent sequencing and clear, adaptable alignment
-
Pranayama as a bridge between body, breath, and mind
-
Meditation as an accessible, practical discipline that supports clarity and presence
-
Structural alignment principles of key yoga postures, taught in a way that honours individual bodies
-
Hands-on and verbal adjustments, offered with clarity, care, respect, and consent
-
Teaching methodology, including how to build thoughtful, cohesive classes rooted in tradition and inquiry
-
Foundations of teaching with confidence, authenticity, and integrity
-
Yoga philosophy and ethics, grounded in classical teachings and lived application
Practice teaching, observation, and feedback are integrated and supported throughout the training, allowing your teaching skills to emerge organically from your personal practice and lived experience. As you deepen your understanding of your own body and practice, you learn to see others more clearly, respond skillfully, and teach from presence rather than performance.
This curriculum is designed to support the development of a sustainable personal practice first. From that foundation, your teaching voice is invited to unfold naturally—intelligently, adaptably, and in service of real bodies and real lives.
About Nicki Doane
Nicki Doane is an internationally respected yoga teacher whose work is rooted in decades of devoted practice, study, and teaching. She has been immersed in the classical teachings of yoga since 1989 and has studied extensively in India with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, B.K.S. Iyengar, and H.S. Arun. Her teaching reflects a rare depth of lineage alongside a genuine understanding of real bodies, real lives, and the realities of modern practice.
Nicki is the founder of Maya Yoga Studio on Maui and is known as a teacher’s teacher. She has led more than 30 yoga teacher trainings over the course of her life, guiding students with clarity, humility, and unwavering respect for the tradition. While she primarily teaches teacher trainings at her home studio on Maui, this training at Pranify Yoga is a special offering—an opportunity to study with a teacher whose depth comes not from repetition, but from lived relationship with the practice over time.
Her approach weaves asana, pranayama, philosophy, poetry, and humour into teachings that are both precise and deeply human. Nicki has a remarkable ability to break down complex ideas and postures without diluting their meaning, making the profound accessible without making it superficial. With her, yoga is never reduced to performance or aesthetic—it remains a spiritual practice, grounded in inquiry, discipline, and devotion.
Students choose to study with Nicki because she offers something increasingly rare: maturity without rigidity, authority without ego, and depth without dogma. She honours tradition while remaining responsive to the individual, teaching students not what to think or how to look, but how to see, listen, and practice with integrity. To study with Nicki is to learn from someone who has walked the path for a long time—and continues to walk it with curiosity, humour, and care.
